Roald Dahl is a clever author that has a great imagination which is shown throughout the novel. His detailed description of the chocolate factory really made me feel like I was there with him.His inventions are amazing and he comes up with some interesting ideas and ways to get rid of the richer children from the tour.I liked how he wrote the songs for the Oompa Lompas to explain what was happening to the richer children when they behaved badly.
I also liked the illustrations in the book because they helped me visualise what the characters and the factory were like.
Roald Dahl kept my interest by the unusual ways he got rid of the richer children and he also kept me wondering what happened to them when the Oompa Loompa's went to help them.
I was expecting Charlie to win the ultimate prize of the chocolate factory, so it really wasn't a surprise ending to me. Roald Dahl didn't use much surprise or suspense in the novel, except for leaving you wondering what happened to the richer children when they left the tour.
