Settings
There are two settings in the novel. The first is the Bucket's family house which is a very old run down house in poor condition . Charlie's parents and four grandparents live in the house. His grandparents share one bed and Charlie sleeps with his parents on the floor. The family survive on little money and barley any food. Charlie's father works at a toothpaste factory and his mother cares for the grandparents.
The majority of the novel is set in Willy Wonka's chocolate factory. The factory is enormous and is a fantasy land. It has a chocolate river running through the centre and many rooms filled with bizarre inventions. The factory is like nothing you would ever see in the real world.
